1. What we collect
We may collect:
- your username, email address and account details;
- book details, page photographs, extracted text, translations and printable files;
- support messages and information you choose to send us;
- basic security and technical records, such as sign-in activity, device type and error logs; and
- payment and one-book purchase status when paid features begin. A payment provider will handle full card details.
Supabase securely handles account passwords. LinguaLayers does not need to see your password.
2. Why we use it
We use information to create and secure your account, save and process projects, recognise and translate text, produce printable files, provide support, prevent misuse and meet legal obligations.
We do not sell personal information. We will not add you to marketing messages unless you choose to receive them.
3. Storage, AI and service providers
LinguaLayers currently uses service providers including Railway for application hosting and working storage, Supabase for authentication and private cloud storage, OpenAI for selected text-recognition and translation steps, and Metricool for website analytics.
When you run an AI step, the relevant page image or extracted text may be sent to that provider to complete the task. Providers may process information outside Australia, including in the United States and other locations where they operate. We use providers to supply and support the service and manage them as required by applicable law.
Metricool helps us understand which website pages are visited and the general country visitors come from. Its website tracker uses an IP address to identify an approximate country, but does not place cookies or assign unique visitor identifiers.
If we add another material provider—for example email, analytics, translation or payments—we will update this policy.
4. Children and other people in uploads
Accounts are for people aged 18 or older. LinguaLayers is designed for adults creating resources for children, not for children to create their own accounts.
If a page photo contains a child or another person, you must be their parent, guardian or otherwise authorised to upload it. Please avoid uploading unnecessary personal information.
5. How long we keep information
We keep account and project information while it is needed to provide the service. Deleting a project removes its working files and private cloud copy. Limited security logs, transaction records or backups may remain for a reasonable period where needed for safety, recovery or law.
To request account deletion, email support@lingualayers.com.
6. Security
We use account separation, access controls and private storage. No online service is completely risk-free, so please use a strong, unique password and tell us promptly if you suspect unauthorised access.
7. Access, correction and complaints
You may ask what personal information we hold about you, request a correction or make a privacy complaint by emailing support@lingualayers.com. We may need to confirm your identity first.
We aim to acknowledge a complaint within 5 business days and respond within 30 days. If an Australian privacy complaint remains unresolved, you may contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner.
8. Signup and upload collection notices
When you create an account
We collect your username and email so we can create, secure and support your account. Supabase securely handles your password and confirmation emails. Without these details we cannot create an account.
When you upload or photograph pages
We collect the page images and project details needed to prepare, recognise, translate and print your language layers. Files are stored privately and relevant images or text may be sent to OpenAI when you choose an AI step.
9. Changes
We may update this policy as LinguaLayers changes. We will post the new date here and give reasonable notice of material changes.
